Woman found dead in Ramona home identified suspect also identified and remains

first_img Categories: Local San Diego News Tags: Crime FacebookTwitter Posted: January 4, 2018 KUSI Newsroom Updated: 3:20 PM RAMONA (KUSI) — A woman found dead in a home in Ramona was identified Thursday as 22-year-old Samantha Hayes Benegas of El Cajon.Deputies were sent just after noon Wednesday to a home in the 24400 block of Del Amo Road, near Sargeant Road, where a 911 caller reported there had been a murder-suicide, according to Lt. Rich Williams of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department homicide detail.The caller then hung up, Williams said.“When deputies arrived, they found an adult female deceased at that location,” Williams said. “They also located an adult male nearby with a serious wound, and called for paramedics to help provide medical aid.”The man, who was later identified as 35-year-old Bryan Hinkle of Ramona, suffered a life-threatening wound and was airlifted to a hospital, but is not expected to survive.He had suffered a head injury and deputies saw what they believed to be a handgun inside the home, a sheriff’s spokesman said at the scene.The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office completed the autopsy on Benegas and preliminary results have been released. The cause of death has been ruled a gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide.Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail at (858) 974-2321/after hours at (858) 565-5200.
